Michelle Ducharme
Lead Coach - Wave Blacks
With over 15 years of coaching experience at Scarlet Aquatics (since 2008), I have dedicated the past decade to working with competitive 11–14 year-old swimmers. I believe swimming is one of the most rewarding sports, and I’m passionate about helping young athletes set goals, push their limits, and grow both in and out of the water. My coaching style emphasizes accountability, effort, and teamwork—while making sure swimmers enjoy the process and have fun along the way.
As a swimmer, I competed at the age group level in Connecticut before continuing my career at Seton Hall University, where I earned a scholarship for both academics and swimming. During my time there, I was honored to be named Female Athlete of the Year twice. My primary focus was freestyle, with a specialization in distance events.
Outside of the pool, I am a 4th grade teacher and live in West Orange with my husband, Ahmed. My experience as an educator strongly influences my coaching, as I strive to create a supportive, structured environment where every swimmer can succeed.

Nadia Kalyna
Assistant Coach
Swimming has been a big part of my life for over 30 years. I was a competitive swimmer from 1990 to 2003, where I learned the value of hard work, discipline, perseverance, and teamwork. The sport helped shape who I am today and gave me many experiences that I continue to carry with me both in and out of the pool.
After my competitive swimming career ended, I stayed connected to the sport as a swim parent and supporter. In 2025, I was given the opportunity to return to the pool deck as an Assistant Coach with Scarlet Elite Aquatics, bringing my lifelong love of swimming full circle.
I am passionate about helping young athletes build strong fundamentals, develop confidence, and enthusiasm. I am truly grateful for the opportunity to share my knowledge, experience, and lifelong love of sport with the next generation of swimmers, and I am excited to be part of their journey as they grow, achieve their goals, and shape the future of the sport.
Outside of the pool, I reside in Bayonne, NJ, with my husband, Edoardo, and our two daughters. My oldest daughter, Eva, is a competitive dancer at Studio L in Hoboken, while my youngest daughter, Sofia, is a currently a competitive swimmer with Scarlet Elite Aquatics. Professionally, I work as an accountant for Reinauer Transportation Companies.
In addition to my passion for swimming, I have a deep love for animals and enjoy volunteering as a foster for rescue organizations, helping provide care and temporary homes for animals in need.
